Forum for Social Studies (FSS)

Forum for Social Studies (FSS) is an independent and non-governmental organization established in 1998 by a group of academics and CSO activists. FSS is engaged in conducting policy-oriented research and policy dialogue on a wide range of subjects concerned with development to enhance awareness about the development opportunities and challenges facing the country and the policies to address them, https://www.fssethiopia.org/.

FSS hosts the Land for Life Secretariat during the launch/start of the Initiative and supported the Land for Life Initiative registered as an independent organization.

Welthungerhilfe

Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest private development cooperation organizations in Germany. It supports initiatives in approximately 35 countries focusing on food and nutrition security and agriculture. At the German level, WHH is an active member of a multi-actor working group on land bringing together relevant ministries, research and non-governmental organizations, https://www.welthungerhilfe.org/.

Civil Society Academy

The Civil Society Academy (CSA) is a social start-up, initiated by Welthungerhilfe, that offers open trainings as well as tailor-made support, particularly for civil society actors and organizations. The CSA acts as facilitator to encourage civil society actors within countries and across countries to connect, share, and interact with each other; it promotes processes to scale-up innovate ideas that contribute to social justice.
The CSA has been accompanying Land for Life since the onset of the initiative, facilitating targeted trainings on Multi-Actor Partnerships in all countries as well as tailor-made strategic workshops for the teams within and across countries. It forms part of the international support team, ensuring regular reflection and learning cycles

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is a German development agency that provides services in the field of international development cooperation in more than 120 countries globally. In its activities, GIZ seeks to follow the paradigm of sustainable development, which aims at economic development through social inclusion and environmental protection. Land for Life Ethiopia collaborates with GIZ in the area of fostering responsible land policy.

UN FAO-Sub-regional Office of Eastern Africa

The FAO Subregional Office for Eastern Africa is a technical hub which supports 8 countries in Eastern Africa and has a core team of professionals with multi-disciplinary expertise. It is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing sub-regional food security, nutrition, agriculture and rural development priorities, www.fao.org/afrcia/en/.
Land for Life collaborates with FAO in areas of capacity building of MAP actors on the application of international land governance proclamations (the UN Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security and AU Framework and Guideline)

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) defines the guidelines of German development policy. It promotes projects of development organizations abroad and formulates long-term cooperation strategies. The BMZ is the main financial contributor of Land for Life.
